The New York Yankees are a Major League Baseball team. The Yankees are in New York City, New York. Then in 1923, Lou Gehrig came. He spent his career as a yankee, hitting almost 500 homeruns. In 1936, a new kid came: Joe DiMaggio. He had a 56 game hitting streak which is a major league record. In 1951, he retired. The same year, Mickey Mantle rose. He ended up hitting 536 homeruns as a yankee. In 1995, Derek Jeter, Jorge Posoda, Andy Pettite and Mariano Rivera came to the Major Leagues. Alex Rodrigeuz came becoming third baseman.
